Who We Are
Founded in 2007, the Rockdale Magnet Fund is the parent organization “booster club” established to support the students, faculty, staff, and parents of the Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology located in Conyers, Georgia. The Magnet Fund provides financial support for all school extracurricular activities, social events, leadership programs, national and international competitions, and non-RCPS-funded capital expenses.
Magnet Pride
Connect
Our mission is to connect families of students to our Magnet community family. The first thing that we want to do is connect with you, the Magnet parents. As we make better efforts to connect as a Magnet family, we can better understand how to support one another and the school at large.
Communicate
The Rockdale Magnet Fund is dedicated to enhancing the quality of communication between the parents and the school and to providing the information that parents need to make the most of these sometimes challenging years. To foster that communication, please follow Rockdale Magnet Fund on Facebook.
Coordinate
Our primary function is to provide support to the Magnet community by coordinating various fundraising events and providing financial resources for events, competitions, and programs to benefit our students.
Academic/Travel Opportunities
Provides opportunities to travel to present research, science fair projects and compete in state-wide and national math and science team competitions.
Extracurricular Clubs/Activities
Supports 100% of dues for ALL students for clubs such as STUCO, Ambassadors, Peer Mentors, Sophisticated Men of Excellence, Women on the Way to Success, Magnet Inc. Entrepreneurial Club, and many others. We encourage our students to become active in extracurricular activities to build a well-rounded student.
Fundraising
As our name implies, the Magnet Fund coordinates fundraising activities throughout the year to support our school, faculty, staff, and, most importantly, the students. The premier event of the year is the Monster Dash 5K and Fun Run. We also put on an annual Holiday Poinsettia Sale, a spring fundraiser and other events. We welcome donations from our local business community, and parents and families all year long.
Social Events
RMSST provides numerous social events throughout the school year which are sponsored wholly or in part by the Magnet Fund. The annual Fall Ball is an event that our students look forward to during the Fall semester for fun and camaraderie. In the spring, we sponsor our Spring Family Picnic and Annual Awards Banquet to celebrate our achievements throughout the year.
In-School Events
The Magnet Fund supports in-school FLEX monthly events which are coordinated by the students such as Tailgate, Red Ribbon Week, Black History Month, and many other activities.
Advanced Placement/College Entrance Exams
The Magnet Fund covers the costs for one Advanced Placement exam for ALL students who take 4 or more during the school year. Additionally, the Fund supports costs for the PSAT college entrance exams.
Non-School-Budgeted Capital Expenses
The Magnet Fund covers the costs for capital expenses which are not funded by the school’s normal budget. In 2019-2020, the Fund purchased a greenhouse to support the Science/Horticulture curriculum and new Health-conscious furnishings for the Learning Commons.
